it can't be that much can it? Shame your cars out of warranty. I'm presuming it's an AUI?

Hey falkeen,

Probably a silly question but did the dealer just mention the aircon compressor was stuffed or you noticed your aircon not working at all.

strider didnt take it to a dealer, took it to an air con guy AFTER I found a problem with it and he just confirmed my fears...
theres like a pressure switch thing that shuts off the compressor if it runs out of gas so it doesnt keep running....unfortunately (i actually posted a thread about this component not long ago to see if anyone knew what it was - i will find the link) this pressure switch had disconnected because the wiring clip thing had broken - meaning it didnt tell it to shut off, hence it commiting suicide and ripping itself to bits!

on a side note ford told me you couldnt get the pressure switch thing by itself, you would need to get all the pipe stuff aswell ($400), i got a switch from a wreckers for $5!
