The fresh/recirc doesn't work on my climate control air-con, I read on this forum about using a self tapper to hold the flap in the up position to hold it in recirc.

My question: If this flap is controlled by a plastic rod, would this mod cause the rod to bind/break? I don't know the workings of the mechanism.

on my ED the rod on the recirc thingy as you said broke, clean shattered one end, to fix Ford said buy a whole unit to fix it apparently they dont just sell the rod. But plastic is a silly idea, ofcourse its gonna get brittle. $140 i think they said for the whole unit

usually either the rod breaks off the door or hinge on the door breaks. self tapper is definitely the cheapest way to go. if you want to fix it properly you only need to pull the instrument panel back from the firewall and not all the way out. only three nuts hold fresh/recirc vent in.
