I am currently looking at doing a couple of mods to my XR. Namley Exhaust, Air Intake and possibly a EEC Tuner or Tweecer. Thanks to some advice recieved in these forims I have ditched the "chip" idea.
Can anyone give me some ideas on the air intake. A K&N filter, to start has been sugested.

Yeah, all you need is a K&N panel for your airbox. Make sure it is K&N and not finer filter etc which tend to damage the air flow meter.

Also get the T-Series Air Intake Snorkel if it isn't already fitted. About $50 at the local Ford Parts counter.

Does the T series snorkel bolt straight up to the stock filter box.

If so, this will get more air into the box but is there any difference between the standard pipe from the airbox to the inlet manifold and the pipe between these points on the T series?

I'm just trying to determine if more air into the box equates to more air into the inlet manifold?

The larger snorkle gives less resistance resulting in more air available for the engine if needed. The T-Series snorkle fits straight on the AU's. Also, I think the AUII XR8 220's have the same snorkle as the T-series.

Yes and u remove 2 screws slide the end off the base of the box and replace with the T series.Takes less than 1 minute.
