Another MAF Q

My old man has a 96 ex-pursuit EF 5L. After the car wasn't running right and getting worse, we decided to take It to a Ford dealer today to find out what was wrong. We got a phone call saying that it needs a new MAF and oxy sensor the cost to fix.......$2000.

We then phoned Coventrys to check the price for the MAF and found it to cost $1500. Is this the normal price for a standard MAF?

I've looked around on the net and found on the XR8 and XR6 Owners Club of Victoria, Herrod advertise a 70mm MAF for $400+GST. But I'm guessing this needs mods to the to work on are car.

On the VPW mailorder site they want $600 for one to suit 19lb injectors. Is this the one we need?

Has anyone in Perth got a standard MAF they want to sell?

If anyone can give advice or know a place in Perth that sell aftermarket MAF's to suit, It will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

$2000 for a stock MAF is WAY TOO MUCH!!!!

You can actually get the car to work without the MAF... if you unplug it - the car will go into "Limp Home mode" and will work better than it does with a faulty MAF.

I just picked up a 2nd hand 75mm MAF for $200. One of the guys in the club got a 2nd hand 55mm MAF for $100.

I am sure you can get a better price!

Just look for a 55mm MAF with a sample tube to suit 19lb injectors, and thats what you are after.. (unless you want to upgrade to 60mm... but the EEC would need time to adjust.)

Veales in Myaree? Didn't Know they had one there. Tried Veale in Malaga and the only thing they had to offer was sending the existing one to the eastern states for a rebuild. Might have to get a secondhand one.
svo302 when do you get back?
