As some of you may know, I'm looking at getting an EB/ED fairmont. Can anyone give me some main things that I should look out for when buying one of these cars?

I've heard that the transmission cooler can become deffective, and needs some minor work done to it, to avoid costly repairs down the track.

Also, as far as the diff ratio's go, the EB ii has a 3.27 and i heard the ED had 3.08 yet at www.fordinfo.com.au , it says that the ED has a 3.27 Can anyone clear this up for me??

Im pretty much after any info any of you guys can give me.

I've had two now.
My XR6 I had for 4 years & didn't have one thing go wrong with it. I bought it at 160,000kms & it had 260,000kms when it got stolen.
I got the engine rebuilt before supercharging it & the internals & bore were very clean.

I've now got a V8 Fairmont & so far I've had no problems with that either. I've only had it for 3 months though.

The diff ratio in ED's is either 3.27 or 3.45. Can't remember which one though.

in the owners manual it says that
conventional is either 3.08 or 3.27 (shown on metal tag on housing)
and lsd's are 3.27 and v8's have 3.27,
and xr6 is 3.45

btw if you buy a manual check out where the clutch goes through the firewall, some have cracked firewalls...
