I was just looking through the owners manual of my EF, and I noticed that it indicated that the airbox filter would need to be changed by an authorised Ford technician in the V8 models as "it shares important components with the fuel injection system".

Has anyone changed the filter themselves? Were there any problems with the task? Is there anything to look out for. I'm just thinking of putting a K&N filter in, and I'd rather do it myself.

Also, is it possible to fit pod air filters to the EF or EL V8?

You can change the airfilter no problems.

There is only the MAF sensor on the airbox lid (the metal part at the head of the airbox lid). Just unclip the upper to lower airbox clips and replace the airfilter.

Don't bother with the pod filter, just get the K&N panel filter (about $120). They flow as much as the pod.
