Was bored so I thought I pull the bash out of the XR to replace the Cruise light which doesnt work, anyway someone has been there before me and chopped and changed three of the wires and run them down to the left. It sure as hell doesnt look like a factory job thats for sure. The car did have an immobilisor fitted??. Im guessing it was a way of stopping the speedo from ticking over whilst stopping the car going into limp home mode. The wires are the brown, white and pink ones.
What do you think?
ps, it also has two fully functioning power switches, the normal one and one where the wagons have them fitted on the dash, one just overides the other. That sure made me wonder
Hey Mate !
Ill try my best to help you out.
Im assuming this is for the EB ??
When your talking about the cruise light, do you mean cruise control lamp ???
(Sorry, Im actually a bit drugged out, Ive been sick from last night, and im sort of out of it at the moment).
Typically the Brown wire is used for Illumintation (+Signal from Park Lamps). A Pretty common one from XF to EL
2 Lines (White and a Red) are from the speedo Sender (Dunno why they would have played with the White Line ???)
Couldnt find the Pink wire in the workshop manual for the Instrument cluster.
Thanks, it's for my EB2 XR8, yes I mean the actual green light that says "cruise" as I said I have swapped globes but still nothing, the cruise works fine and all, just like things to work, so what do you think they were trying to achive??
Since putting this up I have found a far larger problem (see other thread) it isnt pretty.:bwhaaaaaa not pretty at all.
i was just looking at the picture you had on there.
one question, do you have a trip computer fitted or do you just have the standard clock??
reason being is i just put a trip computer in my ed xr6 and had to connect to the red/white, white and green yellow wires behind the instrument cluster.
no just the normal clock, but as i have said two power switches, both of which work! I also have this other switch which I have no idea what it does. Something is going on thats for sure.
BOF , I have a gregorys manual that cover EBII / ED and XG , if you want I can scan the wiring diagrams an email through, but only on Monday as the books at work

I just had another look at the workshop Manual.
The Line that is used to light up the Cruise Control Lamp is Violet/Blue. (1 Line).
This line goes from the Cruise Control Module, to the Instrument Cluster.
My Guess is that there is something wrong with this line somewhere ???
To put your mind at ease, the lines that you spoke of above seem to have the cruise control system in common, and I am not sure about this (Im sure someone can correct me if I am wrong), I am not 100% sure if cruise control was available for the XR's on the EB Series ????
Again I am not 100% sure.
It looks to me like they have added the cruise control module from a Fairmont Ghia/Fairlane or something. That would explain the crimped connections above, and might explain why the Warning lamp isnt working.
