Does anyone know where the drivers (or any) door switch is that turns on the cabin light when you open the door.

I've had a look behind the door trim and couldn't find it. There is no traditional switch mounted in the door frame.

I can only assume that it is a magnetic or proximity switch in the car body.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

It's in the actual door latch the clicks into the car body when you close the door. If you want to run extra courtesy lights or need to wire up an alarm you can access the cables in the front drivers kickpanel. Look up the colors in the service manual.

The colours for the drivers side are White +ve and Black -ve for anyone interested.

I'm wiring up a security system and it doesn't like the cabin light so I'll try the door switch.

Do those black and white wires end up in the loom behind the kick panel on the drivers side (ie to the right of your leg as you sit in the seat). If they do, Imight actually get around to hooking mine up to the doors as well.

BTW, if the other thread keeps going for a while, we may get it as big as the one about Laminge's TE build!

Yep, all the nessaccery wiring goes into there from the BEM.(i wired my alarm into the centrol locking, coutesy light, and door and bonnet switches there). You need the wiring diagram though.

As am_bad suggested, they all run into that drivers side kick panel.

I haven't traced them yet, you know me, I'm never in a rush to do things! I have a copy of the wiring diagram, that's how I know the colours.

I'm going to trace them this weekend after I fit my new interior chrome door handles!
