Au 2 Xr8 Ute Powerchip

Not sure how to go about this, but I have the GOLD Powerchip out of my old ute that I traded on the BA and it's been sitting on the shelf in my shed for the last 2 months collecting dust. I reckon it made a difference, sounded lumpy and gave it 12 rwkw. I paid $950 for it. You can fit it yourself easily but I reckon it will only go in an AU2XR8 ute with the 200 kw motor. I know it's probably not worth much as a second hand item so if anyone wants to give me a carton of whisky for it I reckom it'd be a fair trade. Otherwise it will probably end up in the bin. I have original Powerchip receipt if necessary.

Cheers

Re: Au 2 Xr8 Ute Powerchip

Each powerchip is programmed to the cars VIN that it is installed in. If you try to install this in any car without getting it re-programmed, you will blow the fusible link type thing in the chip and render it useless. I know this because it happened to me when I took the chip out of my AU1 XR8 and fitted it to my AU2 Forte V8. Rang powerchip and the best they would do is offer me a $200 trade-in for the buggered chip. If the chip had have been Ok, they wanted around $350 to re-program it for the second car!

Moral: be careful of buying a Powerchip (only that brand as far as I know - Unichip is transferable between cars, but does need to be reprogammed for the new engine etc, just not the VIN)!

Re: Au 2 Xr8 Ute Powerchip

How much does it cost to have it reprogrammed? I can get a new one for my EBII 5.0L for under $700, but am still not sure this brand works the way it should. Their website states an extra 23Kw.

What 4 digit code did you have on your computer, and what mods did you have programed on it.
