Re: Au 2 Xr8 Ute Powerchip
Each powerchip is programmed to the cars VIN that it is installed in. If you try to install this in any car without getting it re-programmed, you will blow the fusible link type thing in the chip and render it useless. I know this because it happened to me when I took the chip out of my AU1 XR8 and fitted it to my AU2 Forte V8. Rang powerchip and the best they would do is offer me a $200 trade-in for the buggered chip. If the chip had have been Ok, they wanted around $350 to re-program it for the second car!
Moral: be careful of buying a Powerchip (only that brand as far as I know - Unichip is transferable between cars, but does need to be reprogammed for the new engine etc, just not the VIN)!
