AU jacking up with trolley jack.

Can the knowledgeable ones dispel tales of bending alloy crossmembers when using a trolley jack and stands to do routine maintenance? I have the dimensions of the spacer with the relief cutout from the Haynes AU manual but would like confirmation that this practice is OK for the vehicle.
Thanks,
Bill.
