Hi guys just another little issue with my Au. A bloody noisey tappet only really noticed it after oil and filter change car recommends 5W - 30. I put in 10W - 40 would that have any issues. Plus it could be the oil filter its supposed to be a rebadged Ryco but not 100% on that. I read up on Filters today i guess next filter will be a coopers.
Anyone have any ideas why tappets tapping. Car has 108,000 KM
Dont be to worried just keep an ear out in case it gets louder,
it only takes a litlle bit of crap in the lifter to make it tick and alot of falcons do it dare i say all have done it at some stage. You may have 1 faulty lifter that needs replacing time will tell

Well personally for an AU i would stick to the w30 oil as the engine has a much finer tolerance from the E Series engines.
No problems here with running Mobil 1 10w-30 runs very very smooth and not a tick or rattle in both startup and after a hard run on a hot day.
In regards to the noise, is it happening only when it's cold or all the time??

Pretty much all the time Strider, I think definatly i will be placing coreect oil in next change it sjust i was getting mixed thoughts becuase its on gas not to worry. Could be not enough getting pumped around fast enough becuase of the extra thickness. And i really think this filter is shitty. Lesson learned do it right first time or suffer thee conciquences. WIll be wacking in some thinner stuff on weekend with new oil filter.
This might be the noise in my AU, kind of like a tick tick tick noise? Does it at idle and as the revs increase so does the frequency of the tick, probably it's loudest just over 1000rpm.
You could be mistaking that noise for injectors. Theres a distinct tappish noise, which is the injector cycle in operation. Nothing to worry about.

Before you change the oil pour in can of engine flush, cleans all the crap out.I use Valvoline Lo-Vis 10w-30,car is now up to 430,000ks,no noise,no leaks, like new
