AU rims fit on an EA

Went to the wrecker with a mate today, and saw a set of Ghia rims and asked the price, $180 with tyres he wanted. Then he showed me some AU fairmont rims for $400, I said they were a bit useless to me as they won't fit. He told me that the guy that came in with them had them on an XE... So to make sure we grabbed them and chucked them on an NA and they fit on, he said the only difference is the stud length, so if you got the right length nuts you'd have no dramas, and the wheel didn't stick out too much or anything, beautiful fit. So there you go.

Alex

I reckon I would rather buy the right nuts as a set of spacers cost around $500 a set.

mmm spacers

the spacers r there to get ur wheels at the right position cos on a tight turn u could happen to hit the inside of ur wheel well or something like that...

spacers

Tried the AU 16" rims on my EA. They didnt fit because of the top of the tire rubbing against the suspension. the spacers may push the tyre out and away form this alowing them to fit.

There's been some discussion about this subject previously on FF.

You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen. It said, 'Parking Fine.'So that was nice.

They probably would fit pre-EA (such as an XE) though the offset would still be wrong.

They will not fit EA-EL, at least not on the front as they will foul with the suspension upright in the SLALS system.

(SLALS = Short / Long Arm, Long Spindle )
