AU stopped...then started again
Had a bizarre problem yesterday with my 2000 XR8. I was following traffic doing less than 50 Km/h when I lost all engine power. I was able to pull over and check some basic stuff battery power etc all OK. There was no obvious reason for the thing to just stop. Turning the key wouldn't even trigger the starter. I was able to contact a good mate who has his own workshop who drove to where the vehicle was. We plugged in his scan tool and noticed a couple things, First the scan tool could not access the Powertrain part of the ECU second was fault code B1342 in the Body Control part of the diagnostics. As we were looking for more signs under the bonnet there was a number clicks from the relays on the drivers side gaurd. We decided to try and start the car again and it fired up straight away. Car is driving fine for now.
I have cotacted my Ford dealer and will be taking it in as soon as possible. Anybody know of or seen this problem before?
The other issue is I have put a 12mm Phenolic Spacer on the manifold as the start of the usual search for more power. I can't see any relationship between this and the fault. I would have thought that if there was going to be any fault code generated with this mod it would be something to do with the Powertrain.
Does anybody know if the spacer will affect my warranty?
