Hi does anyone know about any of the new engines that the AV is going to have??? and how much power they will produce??

Some people know some stuff about it yes, but noone really know official power outputs or anything like that, we still aren't really sure about what V8 we are getting (4.6, 5.4 etc) everything is speculation.

Sure ! Yeah ! There's been plenty said about the new engines - Have a look at the latest. Motor Mag.

It talks about the DOHC 4 litre engine as well as the turbo version. It even has an artists drawing based on the 4 valve per cyl/ twiin cam oversquare design on the USA "Triton" family of DOHC V8's 4.6 & 5.4 litre DOHC V8's.

The jury is out about wich or both V8's are likely to come here but I think it'll be just the 5.4.

It's generaly thought power will be -
4 Litre DOHC - 180kw Stnd engine all models
4Litre DOHC Turbo - 220-230kw Stnd on XR6, Fairmont Ghia/Fairlane
4.6 DOHC V8 - 240kw V8 Option most models ?
5.4 DOHC V8 - 255-265kw Stnd on XR8 ?
5.4 DOHC V8 GT ver 295-315kw on GT/GTHO models ?

The 4 AV test cars that have done the rounds on NSW coast & inland had the 6 cyl variants AND the 5.4 V8. These were test cars not completly sure of Ford's decision about using the 4.6 V8.

I fell the guesswork is a major part of the fun. I love it.

Holden are a year away from DOHC engines and it looks like the AV will be the car to win back sales. A car for looks/grunt/value/features street cred and a must to have parked in your spot.

Also, check the Ford website for official news to be released late May.

This is not releasing any secrets, it's all been in the press already.

hmm I wonder if the 4 litre turbo would fit in the AU1 fairmont??? Now that wood be good!!
