COuld there be something wrong with my EL if I only get about 460 kms out of a tank?

I find it uses Nearly 14.5L 100km and my mates ED only uses 11.9 100km.

Could my oxy sensor be ****ed?
Anything else I should look for?

Its driven overly hard either.

BTW its parked on a steep hill, any connection?

If you do a lot of stop and start (city driving) then dont expect anything more then 460km out of a tank. I get around 600km out of mine but i do long trips everyday with hardly any traffic lights. Plus my car hardly ever see's the other site of 2500rpm.

I don't know exactly what carbon canisters do, but if the back of the car gets more than about 700mm above the front, while it's turned off for a while, that it can stuff the canister.

What do you expect? I get roughly the same, but my trip computer says 12-14ltr/100k. Hhighway driving is a diferent story. Just recently I got 750kms... The trip computer was saying 8.7Ltr/100ks!! Not too shaby...

Mate,

If I was gettin' 460KM's per tank I wouldnt be complaining!!! If I run my EL on regular unleaded then ill get around 250-300 per tank but if I run her on Ultimate 98 (Premium unleaded) ill get 400+ (bear in mind that I do mostly city driving)

Yes, this will also depend on city or highway driving, transmission type (auto or manual) and how much load your car takes. One of the flaws with the EL's as I have researched were that they were not economical for city driving.

I have to ehco jfavory's remarks.
My manual EF (6) only ever gets about 350 - 375km's on optimax. This is city driving all the time. I push it every now and then, but on the whole I think I drive fairly sedately.

On the highway it's another storey, 650km's is a certianty.

heh, you think you have it bad.. my petrol injection is ****ed, I get upto 4 times too much fuel injected (eg. at low throttle) cause the injectors are always fully open, for some reason. Had it "fixed" once and the problem just came back!

I get maybe 200km to a tank of petrol, and 300 to a tank of LPG, so I run LPG almost all the time :)

i only got 120kms out of a full tank of lpg, i think it is possible that it may be running rich lol :s2:

Thats about the same as what I get, out of 50/50 city highway (EL Fairmont). I usually get around 17L/100k's pure city driving. Also, I'm no leadfoot. Surely this isn't normal.

Jeez you guys are making me feel good about getting 350 - 400 k's out of a tank in my EF V8, and mine is fuelling up quite badly (eg: lots of black smoke)
