A topic of great debate, however not all V8 engines respond the same to the same oil beleive it or not. There are many debates about mineral vs synthetic so this is point one.
What you must consider in an oil are viscosity, shear factor, flash point and temperature ignition ( not that important in oz) etc the list goes on.
It also depends on how you drive and what environments, do you race, or do the 1/4 or thrash the guts out of your car. What mods do you have, is it stroked, Supersharged etc. This all has a bearing on what oil to use.
The LS1 is fussy re: oil and this is a seperate topic, needless to say the oil I use may not suit your motor. My car is modded and therefore is under higher tolerance and I drive it hard, so I use a premium synthetic that is light weight with a higher shear factor, because what the factory recommends is no longer appropriate.
All I can say is look at these threads and make your own mind up what is best for your individual needs.
