Boot lock stuffed

I cant use my key to open the boot anymore. I tried pulling it apart to see if something was jammed but I couldnt figure out how to get the damn lock out. The mechanism turns with the key but the white piece of plastic (on the end of the lock) that is joined to a rod which is in turn joined to the boot mechanism wont actually move unless I move it myself with the boot open. Should I get a new lock or muck around with it some more? If any one has the same problem and managed to fix it give me a yell.

Cheers

Just use the button to release the boot inside. My Fairmont has been like that since I got it.. After a while, you don't even realise that you have one.

well the mechanism would still be working if the remote boot release works right? because that is just connected to a solenoid (sp?).

Its probably a piece snapped from the key to the mechanism..

funny you should say that because my friends boot lock broke today too..
