Braided Line, is ti worth it?

Well its summer, so to make sure nothing explodes in the heat, ive decided to flush the radiator and I figured while I was at it, I would get some new top and bottom hoses for the radiator and reservoir.

My question, is it worth while trying to get braided line for them? Is there a rubber/silicon alternative that is just as good better? Should I just get the braided line kits that fit over the top of the standard hoses?

If it is worth getting genuine braided hoses, where is a good place to buy them in Adelaide?

They do nothing except make the hose look good. IMO the standard rubber hoses last 5-10years reliably so they are fine for most cars. Braided hoses are great but their cost limits them to race and extremely high performance road cars.

Re: Braided Line, is ti worth it?

Stick with your stock hoses. If you burst a radiator hose something is wrong! Your radiator cap, rated at about 13-16psi should pop first to relieve pressure before your hose does.

Hoses only blow if they're old and cracked.

Slide on braid kits are a bit gimmiky and have "rice burner" written all over them! Genuine braide hose kits for a radiator will require you to cut the oultet pipes off and have threaded outlets fitted. Way too much work and hose fittings that size cost mega bucks!

Unless you can get sponsored by Pirtek, don't waste your $$$.
