Can anyone offer advice on why to choose one type of oil filter vs another?
I pretty much buy whatever is on sale. I saw just now that fram has at least 4 different filters. Are they really different besides the paint and the grippy stuff they put on it? I would like to get a deeper understanding of what's available.
I think Motorcraft makes an excellent oil filter. Fram filters are junk. They don't seal well (internally) and are known to allow the oil to bypass the filter.
I remember that oil filter study from a long time ago, but I thought it was pulled off the net. It's old now, but I suspect might still have some validity if manufacturers maintain their current standards/methods, etc.
