Broken Bus Bar

The bus bar (or buzz bar as it is described in a wiring harness illustration in the Ford factory manual; perhaps the artist got a shock while drawing it) on the NB is broken. It is the plate arrangement that attaches the positive cables to the battery. It actually broke some time before now and it's just the bit that hold the main thick 4GA cable that broke and I replaced that with a large cable lug (like this http://www.altronics.com.au/cat.asp?...rp=55&id=C9720).

Since then, my self locking doors sometimes don't work first try and cleaning and tightening the cables at the battery seems to fix this for a while so I was thinking of either lashing out and buying the whole bus bar positive cable assembley from Ford (I assume the bus bar can't be bought on it's own) or buying one of the aftermarket connectors that are flogged by Jaycar and Altronics to those with super hifi systems eg: http://jaycarstore.webfactory.com.au...hh/HC-4054.jpg or http://jaycarstore.webfactory.com.au...hh/HC-4042.jpg

Has anyone used these sort of connectors and if so with what success or otherwise? Have others broken the bus bar and if so how did they fix it?

Hey Aussieblue

i have installed the gold terminals on my battery. i find that they are good, but you do have to modify the wires for the car to fit them. because of the battery you have to have the terminals going east/west off the battery. it isnt a major prob, you just have to relocate a few of the wires to make them long enough
