I've gone threw 3 of this damn things now, first I thought yeh a shit belt, then I put one that I had in the car on and then 2 weeks later it breaks, same thing again I think must have been a shit belt. Then I put in a brand new belt and same thing happens again!
The belt tensions were good so now I'm thinking something is wrong with the pulleys causing the belts to fray then eventually snap. But from what I can see there is nothing wrong with the pulleys!
Anyone had this problem and had a cure for it????

My pulley jammed on my ED, had to get a new pulley( not the tensioner) , but i can't remember the cost. Had the same symptoms as you

crodarian, if it wasn't the tensioner pulley which one was it, the one on the compressor??
I didnt think that the compressor pulley could be replaced.
Just asking as the bearing is making noise on my compressor..
Cheers
Fludey
I just did the bearing in the tensioner, it started happening before I replaced the bearing tho so its not that, the compressor pully spins freely and its all ok, no funny marks on either or anything

well if you can't replace the one on the compressor then it must have been the tensioner one, i had my mechanic do it when he did a service. I just thought he told me it wasn't the tensioner. He said something about having different bearings in pulleys, and that determined whether they could be replaced or not
