Car Trailer Plans

After a lot of searching and not being able to find a car trailer for my pony, I've decided to build one.

Is there anyone out there who has built a car trailer, or has got plans for a 13-15 foot trailer?

Anything would be great!

Cheers!

Re: Car Trailer Plans

Make sure you talk to someone who is going to certify the final product BEFORE you start.

I purchased a trailer from Classic Trailers here in Sydney. It's a tandem box 9x5 with disc brakes H/duty etc and their quality is great. I get heaps of good comments on the trailer from many people.

Some hints for carrying over 1800kg or so:
- disc brakes on BOTH axles
- load sharing suspension if at all possible
- spreading the wheelbase increases stability and load carrying by the trailer, however it causes harder turning forces (tyre scrub)
- use RHS box section for the chassis; flex is scary with that much weight
- longer drawbar means more stability and better loading, however wider turns and less sensitive reversing

Call classic trailers here in Sydney - I very much recommend them. They build and ship nationally (very well known name).
