Hope no one minds asking for some opinions on some of the work I have planned for my XR8.
It is a series 1 Au and I have a series two front and wheels ready to go. I have had a problem with understeer so we are now going to change the front end by the usual method. Dropping the ride hight down to 580 to the guard all round. New exhaust on order to cope with power at the wheels of around 220 via a blower.
Wasn't going to do anything to the interior but a mate suggested I get the TE50 dash. Looking into it and don't really know what to think about this one. I have never liked the AU centre, the EF/EL was heaps better IMO. It will depend on if my car has a universal wiring loom, and how much it will all cost of coarse and the fact that it might look completely stupid.
Seriously,
I would rather trading the series 1 to AU II and get that blown rather gone going through all that expense. When you get the AU II maybe try fit a ts50 sidekirt and rear apron. Leave the fron end as that looks way too cool, maybe even change the wheels to like the TE/TS.
Thanks for your opinion. That was my first option and believe me I tried to get a deal done but couldn't. I am actually rather pissed about the whole deal and I tried every dealer in Tassie. I needed to find about $23000 on my car that had done 16k and was only 18 months old. Performance wise series 2 has nothing on my car except maybe it sounds better. Not sure I would buy another new Ford after this experience, second hand makes a lot more sense.
For a fraction of my change over price I can get alot more done to my car just not sure how far I will go.
Ive always prefered performance mods to visual, so spend the extra cash on the engine or suspension.
Would you rather look at a nice looking dash or would you rather the look on a HSV owners face when your seeing him in the rear vision mirror quickly disappearing?
