changing 351 to 6cyl for time being

how hard would it be to stick a carby 250 into my car instead of the 351 while the 351 is getting built i might aswell use it during summer for a cruise or 2 oh yeah and mycar has a c10 with a stage 2 shift kit and 3 grand stall i can change the stall 2 a stock one for now but not sure of auto.

as far as I know, not very hard.

Tailshaft length is different

Engine mounts the same

Gearbox mounts the same, both for the engine and the rear mount, there are two sets of holes in the chassis rail.

Radiator hoses different

accelerator cable different routing.

exhaust different (of course)

Front springs different

An' thats about all, I think

I had to get different brackets to mount the engine mounts.From memory they move them further foward..In X.D..

Can be done, it's the little pits and pieces you need. Radiator is just wider six hoses should fit or be made to.It would have to be motor and box..Check front yoke c10 to six box as well..

If TuffESP was originally an 8 (sorry can't remember if you've said or not) by putting the 6 in all your guages should still work but I don't think your Tacho will - there is a Tacho for 6 and 8s

I know if you've got a 6 cyl and you replace it with a 8 then you need to replace the tacho - don't know if it's the same when going the other way - NOT TOO MANY PEOPLE DO THAT LOL

EB's correct - the engine mounts (rubber parts) are the same but the brackets they mount to are different. everything else I think has been covered

Hate to say this mate but the engine mounts are completely different and so are the mounting bosses that bolt on the chassis, you may also need a 6cyl accelerator cable. I changed my XE 3.3l auto to a 351 4speed and still used the same tailshaft. The fuel line on a V8 exits in front of the shock tower, on the 6 it exits behind.

Fuel line in engine bay to fuel pump will need mods (does on XY, not sure about later cars).

Edit: Why not buy/borrow a 302 to slot in while your 351 is being rebuilt, it would be a lot less stuffing around. Should be able to pick up a 302 pretty cheap.

You know, somebody actually complimented me on my driving today. They left a little note on the windscreen. It said, 'Parking Fine.'So that was nice.

Wouldn't it be easier to take out the 351 and drop a stack as a rock 302 in it? 302's straight out of a fairlane or something are cheap as. It'll be ALOT easier as it'll drop straight in...

That's what I'd do.....

buy some penrite 50 bobs your uncle.

to much hassel sticking 250 in it
all minor but adds up i would only do it if you had a free
donor car to swap parts over .
