General TechHave a question that is not covered by one of the other categories? This is the forum for all other items not specifically covered in other categories.
Was wondering of someone could knock up a check list for what has to be done during a normal car service on a EF falcon. (Change oil, filters, tighten this, do that, etc...)
Im gunna service the ol girl later this week, I think I got most things covered, but want to make sure i dont miss something, or do something dumb.
Thanks
Jase

A basic service is pretty simple but just about everything gets looked at, check condition of all items that wear (belts, brake pads, wiper inserts, boots, bushes, plugs, leads, filters, tyres, ball joints, uni's etc), check all fluid levels and condition, tyre pressures, oil and filter and check/adjust ya handbrake.
Alot of checks get done even on a minor service if you go to a dealership or a decent workshop but it doesnt get mentioned on the Repair Order or your receipt, the only time something is mentioned though is when something isnt right etc.
Painting the rocker cover is pretty simple and looks good, totally degrease it and give it a rough sand, I used a wire brush attachment on a drill very quickly. I hit mine with about 6 coats of that VHT high temp stuff and then ran a few coats of VHT clear over it and it hasnt chipped, cracked or flaked. Been on it for about 9/10 months now. Just make sure when you put it back on you seal it up properly otherwise it wont stay clean long.

just a quickie about the rocker cover painting, does it just unbolt and come straigh off as simple as that, and also do u need a new rocker cover gasket on it before u put it back on again??
