Hey guys,

The circular shaped metal cover that covers the tibbe lock mechanism on the outside door handle has dissapeared on my ED drivers door??

How??..Can it fall out??...Or has somebody tried to get into the thing...

can it be ordered as a replacement part? Or do i need a whole new tibbe lock assembly??

both of mine dissapeared a LONG time ago.. i don't think you really need them there. i'm guessing its from someone trying to break in.

mine came out of mt EB when i got new keys they were a tight fit so when i pulled the key out after testing it ,it came out with it

The plastic ring around the lock wears out, this allows the little metal flap and spring to fall out, and hence no more little metal flap, pretty easy to happen, the onyl way to repair it is either new locks, or pull the lock out, pull it apart and replace the plastic ring and put in a new flap and spring, I did this on my car when I changed to tibbe locks on my EA, I also added back the ring that lights up as I have a ghia and wanted to keep the option.

An easy way to fix this problem is to get a simple zinc plated washer from your hardware shop. Just measure what outside and inside diameter you need. Put a couple of drops of super glue on the washer and push and hold in place for a few seconds. We did this on my dads EA about 10 years ago. He sold the car 3 years ago and it was still there. I've just done it on my ED as well.

ive found the circular shaped cover underneath my car!

Glued it back in place and its all good.
