Climate Control Unit Hissing

I've noticed on my '90 EA-II Fairmont that the climate control unit hisses when the lever for temperature is set within the bottom cm of the "cold" part... it's not overly loud but is annoying if the stereo is off.. for this reason i usually run it with the lever at just above the 1cm line; it hisses regardless of wether the AC is switched on or off.

Still outputs cold air in this setting or right at the bottom (where it hisses) with the AC on so I don't think it's anything to do with the AC (and cos it does it when the ac is off too)

anyone got any ideas?

Re: Climate Control Unit Hissing

If it's got levers it's not climate control but standard air. The nois e is the vacuum operated switch and if it's that noisy it sound like a vacuum hose has become disconnected.

Re: Climate Control Unit Hissing

Probably a slightly loose hose: check the cluster of hoses plugged into the back of the unit, or the other end behind the glovebox.
