I noticed when I put my steering wheel full lock something in the engine bay makes a continuing clunking noise. And now it has started to do the same clunking noise when I start the car???

What is it??? Help is it bad????

Get the steering rack checked...it could be cracked.

Could also be something as simple as engine mounts.

Mine does similar clunking that seems to come from the front right of the car.. and there's a fair bit of free-play in the steering.. car kinda drifts left and right a bit.. and you can move the wheel a few inches without it actually doing anything (am i making sense?)

Is this also steering rack?

cenithx, I'd have a good look at your wheel bearings

I found with my EA that everything went at once. Steering rack, balljoints, tie rod ends, who knows what bushes etc. It sucked, big time

and to think i replaced most of it just before she was stolen. Grrrrrr.

Hrm funny you say that.. coz another prob just started up today.. a clunk (but sounds more like a click) that repeats.. click click click click.. coming from the engine bay.. when i accelerate.. it gets faster.. etc.. wierd thing is, it comes and goes.. :/

I think its time for an overhaul

of both engine, and suspension.

that click sounds like your lifters, very very common on those engines.

Rubber steering rack mounts may need replacing. Jack up front and see if rack is loose.

steering rack mounts is something i can figure out though

will play around tomorrow (yay for RDO's)
