Code P1053 (Bank 2 Sensor 1) O2 Sensor Ckt Slow Response

Need help diagnosing a code:
Code P1053 (Bank 2 Sensor 1) O2 Sensor Ckt Slow Response

1997 RangerXLT 4.0L 68Kmiles.

Check engine light comes on intermittantly,
goes out after a while after day of driving or so.
If I erase the code the check engine light stays out a
few days but comes back on.

No leaks at sensor or the visinity.
How do I know if the sensor is bad or not, any tests?
Is 68K miles early for an O2 sensor to bite it, shouldn't they last 100K?
If bad what does this part run cost wise? Best to get from Dealer or parts store?

thanks in advance

Life of an O2 will vary with conditions of driving. Type of fuel used and the sort. They are easy to replace and vary in cost. Depending on whether you get from a dealer or from parts store. Youwillpay more at a dealer. I would suggest that you replace all 4 at one time. May cost you a bit more, but you will not have to worry about another going out anytime soon. I have seen that once one fails that the others are not that far behind.

You can check the sensor by swapping sides out. Clear codes. Run the truck for 30 miles (which is how long it should take to throw the code) or until CEL comes on then check the codes. You should now have an issue in the opposite location. If you are still having an issue with the one bank and location then it is more than likely the connector itself.
