i love the cars but i'm not mechanically minded.
i have a rolling shell of a XB falcon hardtop. the body and interior are spot on now. all that is left is the mechanicals.. i also have a xa gt coupe 351 toploader etc. etc. so i dont really want another big HP petrol guzzling car. my father has a XF GHIA and EB fairmont both unreg. and he wants to give me both 'coz he knows my obsession with fords. what i would like to do is complete my XB using either the XF of EB as a doner car for parts(engine, gearbox etc.)
is this possible? or more to the point.. is this a hard 'waste of time' task?
i want to use this car as a daily driver for my gf and myself therefore want reliabilty, economy, air con etc...
what car (xf or eb) should i use? what out of it can i use? what modifications will be required? how hard is engineering the finished project?
what other post 1980's would be a better doner??
i appreciate any help in this matter.

V8 or 6 ??? in donar cars ???

A 4Ltr would go well in a Coupe but lower diff ratio would be reqired with 4 speed auto for good results..All pollution would have to be changed over with engine including ulp fuel nozzle pipe,efi, cats etc...

V8 same...Fuel economy should be good..

My choice would be to use the EB as the donor, as per previous post, all hardware, pollution, computer, etc would need to be transfered. I've seen an XY fitted with a EF V8, they also used the later dash and instrumentation to link in with the computer. To fit an EB motor into a XB, use the XG or XH engine and gearbox mounts. (not sure wich one, the one that was basically an XF with the later motor)
