I would like to fit cruise control to my 6/92 XR8 5spd sedan.
Asked at Strathfield car radio , didn't want to know me.
Same story at couple of other places too,
Wreckers said it was too much mucking around to pull out
because so much stuff is different,wiring looms etc..
Auto electrician didn't get excited at the prospect either,
Has anyone else fitted this to this model?
Ford had this as an option on EBs ,[kit is now obsolete]
I would fit aftermarket kit,but I want to keep the controls
on a Ford steering wheel to keep car looking original

an after market kit is fairly easy to install, but to get the genuine kit is a lot of stuffing around from what I have heard, because Ive been told that the steering column is different because the cruise control one has pick ups on it that the back of the steering wheel touches so that there are no cables, and that it all connects back into the cars BEM. What have Ford actually said about it? They would more than likely be the people Id suggest to go see about getting it installed

Ive put the factory cruise on my EB, ts a peice of piss on an I6.... i guess the V8 would be alot harder..

RedEB.... i was fairly cheap for me.... I got the cruise control unit, actuator and pump plus brake switch for $35 from the local wreckers. The steerin hub i already had (was thrown in for nothing when i brought the trip computer) and i made my own cruise thorttle cable from my old CFI cable. Did all my own wiring from what i had lying around the house. Yer right tho... shouldnt be any different on the V8... maybe longer actuator cable or something...

I recently had an aftermarket cruise cotrol fitted to my EB XR6. I ended up using a stork mounted switches, as I don't have the original steering wheel (I prefer an old favorite!!). They do sell steering wheel mounted switches, mounted like EF - onwards. On a recent trip up to QLD, it worked fantastically.
