Hi All,

Would anyone know the torque spec's for a 3.9 head cylinder on a 89 Falcon?

Stage 1: 40nM(30pounds/foot) starting from the two inside bolts tightening all the other bolts in a spiral outwards to the outside bolts.

After all bolts have been tightened to 40nM do the following

Stage 2: In the same tightening sequence, tighten bolts a extra 90 Degrees of a turn(1/4 Turn)

You'll need a decent size wrench to do the last step as they get bloody tight. Also it's a good idea to use new head bolts and of course new head gasket.

Was a bit unsure of the 90 degree part, assume you dont bother with torque wrench for 2nd stage,just a decent strong arm bar.

Correct; a torque angle gauge is also useful; it's easy to go over 90 degrees without one. Kinchrome sell cheap ones.
