Damn Radiator hose clamps

Whats the deal with these on the AU's???

My mate rang me today to pick him up so he could get a new lower hose, and we get around to undoing the bloody things, and, WTF?!?!, how the hell are you supposed to get these undone?

IMO its definately not the best design...what happens if you break down in the middle of nowhere, with no mobile reception?

use a small screw driver to flick the little cap off the screw head.

they originally have another screw head on top of the cap that snaps off at a certain tourque setting. that way they can do them up more quickly in the factory.

Yeah getting the clamps off isn't really a problem but i find taken the damn hose off can be friggin hard. My remedy just replace the hoses on a regular basis to minimise hose rupturing.

I find it weird that they pop off so easily as you guys are saying cause we ended up doing them up with pliers on the cap...got them damn tight too.

Minge, go check you radiator hoses and you'll see what he's on about. They have little caps over the screw head of the clamp.
