Just a message to let you all know that an EA will not go with the earth for the tailights disconnected!

I had the opportunity to find this out on the weekend, when my car (EA Fairmont Ghia), decided to start dying and coming back when i was driving along. While this was happening, the fuel door light was coming on. I also found that, while the fuel pump was running, the head unit went to the dimmer setting, this also happened when i put my brakes on.

I decided to have a look and found that the bolt holding the earth had come out about half an inch. I would say that the tailights, fuel pump and fuel door sensor earths all hook up to here. I disconnected the earth completely and the fuel pump didn't go.

Just wanted to say this incase anyone else has a problem like this, they have an idea of where to start.....

Thanks mate, tips like this are very helpful. A number of wierdo things can be put down to bad earths.
