The minimum is supposed to be 145psi. So my baby is dead. It's still running fine, but for how long who knows!! I don't know whether to shell out the $2000 (which i don't have) for a new motor or just trade it in on something newer. There are quite a few manual EBII/ED's around here with only 140-150 thousand on them. They are going for the $7990 mark. But I may also go to Sydney and have a look round, if I'm game to drive my car down. Well today has certainly been a kick in the guts, hope you other guys have had a better one.

Depends on how the rest of the car is.
If this engine issue is the only thing wrong with the car, then it might be worth spending a few hundred and put in a S/H EF 4.0, with the original ECU and manifold system.
On the other hand, if your not happy with the car, and you can see a continuous need to spend cash on it, then it might be worth cutting your losses, and getting rid of the thing.
Hope it turns out well.

Well everywhere I have been to have said it needs a new engine. How much will it cost to get the rings and a valve grind done? It does have a few other things wrong with it like a clutch pack in the trans and it need a camber kit put in it. It seems as if all I have done is spend money on it since I bought it.
I have found a very nice EBII GLi 5spd, extractors, 2.5in exhaust, alloys, new tyres, spoiler, 143000k's and it looks immaculate inside and out for $7990, there is also a 5spd ED Falcon S for the same price with 140000k's, but none of the other stuff. The only thing I don't like about the GLi is the lack of a tacho, but I guess that's not a major concern. There are quite a few cheaper ones in the trading post, but all have a lot more k's on them.

By the way, how long can I expect the current engine to last before it finally dies completely. It still runs fine when it gets driven normally and it doesn't blow any smoke, I guess the only thing is it's a bit under powered.

Well if it is not blowing smoke, (not using much oil) could last for quite a while if you treat it right. Looking at the test figures, you got 4 out 6 pots that are reasonably OK, and as they say " 2 out of 3 ain't bad"
Just use this time to save up a few dollars (if you can) towards another car.

It all depends how much you like the car that you have currently, I couldnt afford to get a new car when i cracked the head on my NA, and I like the NA, so I went and found an EBII 4.0lt engine with lowish kms (130,000) it was out of a car that had a major rear end collision, and was an economic write-off, had it fully installed in my NA for $1050 including a full cooling system flush, service, parts and the engine itself (engine comes with intake manafold and injectors) so it all goes down to how much you want to spend and how much you like the car
