Do these rpm's sound about right?

I've installed a tacho i was given as a gift in my car today (real bodgy plastic one.. looks crap but hey its a tacho at least :)

Im not 100% that its calibrated right and all that, do these figures sound about right for a 3 spd auto?

Idle about 600 rpm
100 kph (3rd gear) about 2200 rpm
120 kph (3rd gear) about 2400 rpm

and the top rpm i went before it sounded like it was gonna die was around 4000 rpm according to the tacho. Whats the redline on these stock 250 x-flows?

Ta!

Hi,

This cool website has a great driveline calculator program. Just find the one you want, plug in your numbers and it spits out your answer.

Put your tyre size in the bottom one first to calculate your tyre diameter in inches.

You want to use the "Find RPM" option.

Your 3rd gear ratio in your transmission is obviously 1. Don't worry about the TransCas box.....or just put 1 into it.

And you'll need to know your diff ratio.

It uses MPH.......60mph equals 100kph. Just divide your kph by 1.6

Have fun.

That link doesn't take you all the way.

Click on the "Calculators" link on top of the page.

Then select "Axle Ratio / Tyre size calculator".

Man thats a damn sweet website, top stuff!!
Saved the html just incase the site goes down ever :)

I calculated at 100 kph = 2144.6 rpm
and at 120 kph = 2573.5 rpm

So what do the 250's redline at? or whats their rev limiter set to? Cos according to that website ive taken my car just over 4500 rpm on a few occasions

*** UPDATE ***

I couldnt stand the damn inches and mph, so I spent the past 30 mins going through his javacode and converted it all to KPH, Centimetres and spelt it Tyre instead of tire :)

Give it a shot here at --> http://austin.axg.net/temp/calculator.html <--
