MR AUII

I have a white AUII and it has the black strips on the sides of the doors. im thinking of removing them and either leaving them off or replacing them with white ones. are they easy to get off, have any screws?

Just get them painted, it can be done on there, and new ones have to be painted anyway

i was thinking of getting them from a futura or fairmont that already come with them colour coded to the car

They are stuck on with double sised tape so sometimes can be abit tricky to get off, then you have to clean all the tape off that is left on there and clean the moulds that you get and retape them.

so as you can see it would be alot easier to get them painted

I can certainly see your point cogo. I cant paint for crap so might just leave them black. sounds like a lot of work to take them off otherwise.

it's not that hard, all you need to do is use a hairdryer to warm up the adhesive, then very gently peel them off. If it gets stuck, heat it up some more - dont force it, and dont use anything to prise it off cos you will damage the finish underneath. Some petrol on a rag will take care of any glue/marks left behind.

Go fairmont ones - they have chrome strip in them

Leave them black.

The first time some ar*ehole opens their door on them and chips the paint, you'll know what I'm talking about.
