Drivers Door on an EA2...

Hi all, My mates got a problem with the door on his EA2 Fairmont-It seems 2 be letting exterior noise in, and moves around a bit over bumps etc- I think its been taken off, then put on again too far forward-the gap between it and the back door is bigger than usual, and the disance to the front guard is wrong too.
Does anyone know how wed go about adjusting it, and would it be a big, time consuming job? I assume wed pull the front guard off to do it, but we dont know exactly how to go about it all, any help would be greatlyappreciated. Thanx.
