I just installed the DuraSpark ign. in my 70 bronco. I went to the auto store and got everything for a 77 bronco 302.. Pulled out the old points dizzy and replaced the rest of the ign.(coil,dizzy and ignition module)
Now....
Starts = Great (first Crank)
Idles = Great (A little fast)
Revs = Good ( It responds OK) ( high rpm starts to miss) (Revs Good sitting in the garage)
Hold at 2000 Rpm = Poor ( rmmm POP rmmm Pop Pop rmm ) Little back fires through the carb..
Test Drive = NO Power, can barely get around the block at full throttle.. Pop Pop rmmm rmm Sputter sputter..
I have tried adjusting the timing from 4- 14 deg. Before TDC.. still same outcome.
I replaced the ignition module with a new one from autzone.. (Blue) then the damn thing would not start.. ( I think that module is bad right out of the box)??? Could that be?? What do the colors mean?
Did I uncover another problem with my 302? (Valves, carb?)
It ran OK with the points dizzy.. Not great but it sure got me around town..
My set up is a:
77 302 Motocraft Distributor
Ford ignition module (Green)
MSD blaster 2 coil
Any ideas?? Is this ignition module going out?
Thanks
Aaron
