DVD Work Shop Manual

Hello. I'm new to this site and it looks like a really good forum list at that. Hopefully this is the right area of this forum to ask this question and someone will have some input on my question.
Does anyone know if the used factory dvd's on line with old date codes can be updated to get the latest tsb's? Also, some of them contain Oasis? information. Does anyone know what that means and does it allow access to a ford database? Finally, they also have engine emissions facts summary listed on the dvd label. I've read that this shows vacuum diagrams ans sensor ohm readings. Wouldn't that information already be in the pc/ed manual? thanks for any input.

Re: DVD Work Shop Manual

They can't be updated. The Oasis is the connection to Ford when online and as far as I know, only dealers get to use that. As far as the pc/ed manual, I'm not sure what they are. I know the cd's have the ETVM with them.

Re: DVD Work Shop Manual

Thanks RTG143. I just won one on ebay for 7 dollars. There's some on ebay but not too many. I recently got mint copies of the Workshop manual, PC/ED manual and the Wiring manual all for 60 dollars. The DVD is nice for enlarging diagrams on the computer and is easier to read at times. The Workshop manual is equal to 3 or 4 telephone books and the pages are thin so it'shard not to tear it. Thanks again.

Re: DVD Work Shop Manual

Using OASIS requires a code, but it wouldn't be much use to you. Many of the newer TSBs are available free online - Google. Only some of the older disks contain TSBs. What year & model are you looking for? Most of the DVDs have expired, so you'll have to roll back your computer's calendar to access the data. The PC/ED contains everything related to engine management & emissions operation, including the summary; the shop manual just shows how they're put together. The links in this caption show how to install & use the disks.

Re: DVD Work Shop Manual

thanks a lot for the link. I guess I have to just roll back my desktop clock to use the dvd. I just bought my car and won all the paper manuals on ebay. I like reading the manuals so I know the car better. It's nice to be able to get these manuals so cheap and easy now. Too bad women weren't so easy. I figured I'd pick up the dvd version for easier reading. I'll use the paper one if I need it at the car for troubleshooting. One thing that has always stunk with the modern day cars is having limited access to the ECM with aftermarket scanners. These manuals are really set up for the ford tech equipped with the total vcm package. It's nice to also have free access to fords database. My 06 could use a reflash to the 07 specs. ford wants 96 clams an hour. Plus , i dont think the tcc is locking up. the tech scanner can go turn on anything the vcm tells it to. every step by step test in these manuals calls for the vcm setup. too bad there wasn't some aftermarket equip that didn't cost 5 grand.
