Anyone know how much im up for a new one?
The car justs turns off when it warms up a bit...cool trick (not)
Anyone else had a problem with theres? What happened?
I bought one a few years back, the figure $340 sticks in my mind, I know for another $40 or so bucks, you could get a complete dizzy assembly which is probably a good idea. Just call a Ford spares dealer.
No such thing I know of; do you mean the TFI (Thick Film Ignition) Module? If so they coast around $90 from Veales Repco etc new. But they don't have much inside and can be pried open to fix. See http://www.therangerstation.com/TFI_Diagnostic.html to test with your ohmmeter or multimeter 1st.:s5
What was happening when the car got to normal running temp it was causing the modulator on the dizzy to shut down, thus the car would simple turn off.
I was doing 80 down the highway and it was like i turned the key to off. (except my cd player and other electrics were still all going)
Hard car to steer once its off.
Anyway my mechanic got the car to do the same thing, check the electrics and replace the Dizzy and Coil, the coil could have stayed unchanged but he said it was so far shot that it would cause the same problem to happen alot sooner.
The module should cost about $80. Anyone replacing one should make sure they definitely get a Bosch one as there is some other cheaper type around which is apparently crap. The Bosch one comes with installation instruction and some heatsink grease to put on the back of it.
