ea f/mont ghia valve timing help please

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
have an 89 fairmont ghia ea which broke timing chain guide and the chain punched a hole in the timing cover.Have the old cover off and want to align the marks at tdc. My manual says align as per diag., but no diag for 6 cyl- 2 diags for v8 tho! At tdc crank n idler marks are facing each other, but what should camshaft gear mark line up with. It is at "3.00 o'clock" atm (level with top of head). Does this sound right, or has the chain slipped a few teeth when the guide and t/cover broke

The timing mark for TDC for cam should be level with the head I think. This post will give you a bit of info. EA_Ghia was asking this question just the other day. Check it out. I hope it helps. Cam/Crank Timing
