Question EA Falcon id..

Ok guys, I'm just learning all this 'e-series' ford stuff and have pretty much no idea when it comes to cars...

I want you guys to take a look at the attached pic of my engine bay on my 1989 EA Falcon GL and tell me anything you can about it. I hear all this talk about CFI/MPFI, this snorkel that, yada yada, but most of the time I'm lost as to what is what because I don't have pictures to go by when I hear this stuff. I know that it aint MPFI, and I know that it has gas hooked up (although no gas bottle, therefore it runs on ULP). What can you guys tell me about it just by visually looking at this pic?

Thanks
-DeanO

How can you tell it's a 3.2? Something to do with the rocker cover maybe?

Yer, how exactly can you tell that? It's the main reason I'm asking... apart from having great experience with these things how does the average joe ID exactly what it is?

Yup it's a CFI which you can tell by the round air intake, and it's a 3.2L because the rocker cover is grey... not black like on the 3.9L EA's.

Hmmm, can I ask: How does your car perform?

Well, without knowing to much about how it should perform, I think it performs moderately ok. I paid $1500 all up for the car from a car yard. It has about 240,000ks clocked up, and has a stuffed radiator atm (damn mechanics!). Considering all this, it runs pretty good. I haven't yet changed the oil/oil filter, haven't checked the plugs/leads, haven't really done anything to it except have a mechanic install a water-pump gasket for me (which at the time was the only water leak. I got the car back with a radiator leak!!) When I get some money together, I'll be having the car thoroughly checked/serviced. So yer, in my opinion, I believe it runs adequately for a non-serviced car.

( ps. Thanks for the ID on the 3.2/3.9 ... next time I'll have to paint it red..that'll fool you all )

umm the rocker cover colour makes no difference to engine displacement...as every 3.9 CFi I have seen has the plain alloy "grey" rocker cover...only way to tell would be to look at the front face of the head ( directly facing radiator ) it will say either 3.2L or 3.9L

Lets go find that Hotdog tree I planted

Lowered EF Futura
Black Steelies ( too cheap to buy proper mags )
