I got my startermotor replaced 6months ago and it was fine but sometime in the last couple of week I turn the ignition it makes the noise that it made when the starter died the first time. Anyone think the startermotor they put in might be on the way out, will this get worse? If so its under warrenty so I'll take it back to the mechanic...

just check first to see if its in tight and no bolts holding it in arent loose sometimes if the bolts loosen it doesnt grip in tight enough and slips make a grind noise. another thing if it makes a click noise and doesnt spin the throughout is f**ked best way to check starter is pull it out earth and turn the key if it spins freely then its fine look at the teeth for wear and the fly wheel for wear you can see by the teeth being ground look in the hole that the starter motor came from on the bell housing to see the teeth on the flywheel. hopefully its just loose or max starter. do you have a habit of forgeting the motor is running then turning the key and getting the grind noise. if so that would explain starter lol seen that heaps people palying music pulled up at shop get in to already started car dont notice engine running and and turn the key and the starter motor engages and she grinds like buggery. and wont start the next morning
