ea starting problem

my ea has developed a really strange start.
about a week ago i went to start it in the morning.
no go usually starts first time checked all the usual stuff fuses relays checked for petrol incase of fuel pump failure etc.. last of all i checked for spark strangley enough no spark.
so i hit the imobiliser on & off but that usually cuts my starter motor so the car doesn't crank (when imobiliser is activated the car will not crank) but it was cranking and not starting.
after doing that away she went.
the thing that has me confused the most is that it only happens sometimes one day i even tapped the ignition module and away it went but tonight i hit the imobiliser like 3 times and still nothing then it started.
could anyone please help its driving me nuts.
Thanks for the help guys.

So it always cranks fine? is it a 3.9LMPFI? Do you have a tacho?

Start by looking at the tacho (if you have one) and see if it moves when you crank the motor. If it doesn't, unplug the TFI 6 pin plug on the side of the dizzy. Spray a bit of switch cleaner, WD40 etc. into this plug and refit it. Slide it in and out a few times and plug it in. See if it will start now. I could not work out what had caused my no start problem one day and notices the tacho not moving. Another indicator was the motor cranking slower than usual for some reason. I have only found one place to get these plugs from. It could be other things, but let us know what you find out ok?

I dunno, but check out the connector for the TFI module. I got the TFI module priced from ford and it was just over the $100 mark. I would say the connector could be your most likely problem, as it can be dirty or loose. You should be able to get a new plug from an autoelec, unless they are like one of the money hungry ones here....

I ended up getting a new dizzy.. the old one had been kicked the bucket due to radiator fluid getting in there.. dont ask how.. had a few hoses blow out in the last couple months so yeah.. its good to have the car on the road again
