I'lls looking at a EBII Fairmont, sedan, and just wanted someone elses opinion. sorry long post

Its done 157000km, but had engine exchanged at 44000kms( dont know why). Dunno wot its running now, on reciept it said ENG 5432(JGSWN031901)EB.
Insulation on bonnet looks pretty black and chared
All windows work
Thumping sound when at idle when at rest, think new exhuast needed( no test drive yet)
Central locking only work from front left door.
front left door doesnt close properly, unless locked
all doors hard to open
little surface rust
Dirty as hell
int. pretty much covered in clay
Didnt check climate cont, mirrors
needs 2 new interior door handles
Velor trim
good rubber

Thing that caught my attntsion was front doors rub against both front side panels( Prang?) no major dents visable.

Asking $2000

As i havent driven many of these beasts, any tips/problems u mite of had would be great

sounds like its been in a pretty big smash and not repared properly. I wouldnt touch it, sounds like its had a pretty bad life and is looking worse for ware.

I have to agree with Walkinshaw. It sounds like it has had a really rough life and although it is cheap for an EBII Fairmont, it still doesn't sound like it is worth it.

The fact that the engine has been changed while only having done 157,000 doesn't sound good. It is also a worry that the doors don't open or close properly, which suggests it has been in a fairly big accident and repaired on the cheap.

Work out all the things that you would need to fix on the car and figure out how much it would cost. In the end i'm betting it would cost more than a good condition EBII Fairmont, not to mention all the hassles with getting the stuff fixed.
