Everyone talks about earths and grounding of the electrics on EA-EB but where are they. Are they wires connecting to the body??
If so can someone tell me where they all are so that i can check to see if they are all fine, as it seems that some problems are solved with this.
My idle slows when i turn on the headlights, is this normal??
Also when i give the accelerator a blip i get a chink noise, similar to rattling keys. It sounds like something is loose in the engine. I can only presume this is bad. Any ideas?

When idling i seem to get a bit of a miss every five seconds.
My car seems to accelerate slow (its not the accelerator cable its been replaced) too slow for a 5 speed manual.
Ive had the car for almost 2 years and encountered lots off odd problems including crazy idling (over reving) that still isnt working properly and am getting sick of it.
I replace the oil and filter every 5000 km and keep up regular maintanance but it seems not worthwhile.
If anyone has any sugestions please tell me.
My car is a EB CFI 1 5 speed manual.
Help is needed or else i may end up getting rid of it.
Maybe i should sell it and get something different. Maybe a decent escort. I had one for my first car and sold it (dammit!!!) to get the EB. Nothing went wrong with that car.
sounds like it needs a good service and tune up to me I am getting that done on mine. It has problems idling when I use the powersteering and stuff it never overevs just starts to die and rev back up again really quickly until I change the auto or give it a little acceleration
could just be my idle a bit low as well I spose.

reset the base idle - i dont know how on CFi - the chink sound might just be the throttle plates clicking closed and therefore normal, put new leads, dizzy cap, and rotor button in it and see how you go - every EB i have ever played with has needed a new rotor and dizzy cap...

i think the car sounds like it needs a good tune up, thats if it hasnt had 1 for a while??
and as for your earths, what i would do, is buy 2 new battery leads, 1 that goes from the battery to the starter motor.
and the other 1 (negative or earth) goes to the motor.
and also add another earth from the battery (negative) to the body, that may help your lights and other electrics on your car??
make sure that the earth lead when bolted to the body, that you have scraped the paint away in that spot so that it gets a good contact.
Yep good tune .. Sounds like the timing chain and tentioners need some attention.Rattles like crazzy till oil pressure builds up right? Comes from front of motor?? I guess your idle speed is too low... Leads and cap as said. If it idles like a centerpead with a wooden leg, it could be blown head gasget?

Yeah it does need a good tune but where should i go. I dont want a place that just changes the leads. I want a place that actually finds what the problems are and fixes them.
Maybe I shoud get my engine checked out to see if its stuffed. If so i might get an ED engine possibly even an EF EL engine, how much do they cost?
Also how much does a good tune cost, I dont really see the point in paying heaps of money if the engine is stuffed.

I recon the ebII engine is pretty awesome
my engine done almost 250,000km and it seems to be fine but needs a tune up
