Like as in reconditioned? If you're after a reco they're around $2200 exchange.

Id be steering clear of those commercially available reco motors if I were you, quality wise they make the Gen3 look like BMWs....

Go a decent second hand one from the wreckers, or better yet a professionally rebuilt one

Depends mate. I don't think a company like BM Higginbottom could offer a 100,000km warranty if the engines were rubbish. Their price is $2195.

I recently got a second hand EBII 4.0lt with 123,000 on the clock for $1050 fully fitted, the engine itself was $650. It was the lowest kms engine i could find, finding one that is in a car that just had rearend damage was hard to get.

I know of a taxi that had a remanufactured engine with a brand new ford gas head fitted & it used 6 litres of oil every 10,000km from day one, even had a knock. Car was sent to eng reco joint & they put another head on it. Still uses oil & knocks. You make up your own mind.
