Hey Guys.

Just a quickie.

I want to know if any of you know how to make a 302 louder? my EB XR8 is so quiet its not funny. It has a 2.5inch s/s exhaust system, 2 high-flow cats, high-flow muffler, pacemaker extractors, etc etc and the thing is quieter than my friends VN.

People give me shit for putting an xr8 badge on a Falcon S, and wont believe me it's an XR8 until they see the motor.

How can a v8 be so quiet :(

The stock heads have pretty restrictive exhaust ports so some modification there would probably open it up a bit more, but it really shouldn't be all that quiet with your exhaust mods. Mine isn't overly loud but you can hear it coming and u can definently hear the v8. How 'hi-flow' is your muffler? Could be one of those dodgy 'super turbo' bits of crap which is a triple-flow design - you should be able to look straight thru it with only a slight offset :D

its a Walker high-flow mufler. straight through - i can see straight through it :)

After spending $$$$$$ on my system it sounds like this

M&H stainless headers4-2-1 for auto trans
original cats ( hiflow sound'ed holow)
3" from cats to small glass pak muffler
Dumped down before the diff

Many for my frends that own holdens say that the exhaust note sounds like the old EB group A and that the only thing they like about my car (D%$#head holden owners can never say anything good about ford)

Also I have the tailpipe cut out on the bumper filled so it lookes like it never hade a pipe in the first place.

Quiet is good. As long as at kicks Boat Anchor ass that's all you need.
What do you mean they won't believe it's an XR8 until they see the motor? The 5.0 is the same from Falcon GL to XR8.

Try a bigger pipe from muffler back and no resonator, or a high flow one..

so only one muffler? how big is it? maybe go 3" from the muffler back, shouldnt hurt power (might even help, fingers crossed) and it will be louder.

or you could swap the muffler for a largish hotdog or something but keep the 2.5" piping...

I have a 91 EB XR8 i had the same problem of being to quiet. The way i over came this was to fit TWIN 2.5" pipes and sports mufflers with ofset that you can see straight through. I then run TWIN 2.25" tail pipes which both exit the same side, this took a lot to achive and had to end up doing the job myself as the exhaust shop seemed to have a lot of trouble.The end result is that i have a XR8 that sounds like a 70's V8.
