ebII xr6

I have an EBII S XR6 and have just removed the unit that joins 2 parts of the heater hose because it has coroded and sprung a leak. Can anybody tell me what it is? Secondly, the unit has what appears to be a pressure element to it that opens and closes a butterfly valve, there is a small diameter rubber hose coming off the unit that was not attached to anything and therefore the valve doesn't work. can anybody tell me where that hose should be connected too? Is there a way I can attach a photo of the unit to this message? thanks.

It is your heater tap.

The hose which is disconnected is the vacumn line for the heater tap and would be permanantly open if no vacumn. (This is no big problem as long as your blend door is fully operational, just means that there is always hot water flowing through your heater core). The vac hose goes to your vacumn distribution connection on the air/heater box behind the dash. The connector colour here is green.
